The dinosaurs are back. One of the most anticipated
movies of all time brings the Stan Winston created animals back to the
screen. As in the first film the effects are spectacular. This time we
are taken to a new "Lost World" by Steven Speilberg. Jeff Goldblum
is back as Dr. Ian Malcolm and he is off to the "Lost World" that
John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) tells him exists. But he isn't
headed back because he wants to, he's headed back to rescue his girlfriend
Dr. Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore). Hammond intention is for Malcolm and
his
team to head to this Lost World to document the life that is there. After
their arrival they find that there is another InGen group there with a
very
different motive. This all is small potatoes compared to the dinos that
are
waiting for them.
More dinosaurs, more suspense, more tension, and more carnage fill this
sequal. In fact the dinosaurs tend to have a personality, especially Mommy
and Daddy T-Rex. This film is wrought with tension and is an excellent
follow up to the original. A film like this show you the greatness of Steven
Spielberg. He can go from a film like "Schindler's List" to the "Jurassic
Park"
films and make them both great. And of course, this film hits a lot closer
to
home with San Diego as the setting for the film's finale. See this film
now, you
will definitely get your money's worth.
Despite some plot holes this movie is good. Most people don't see a film
like
"The Lost World" for its plot, but instead see it for the dinosaurs. If
you are
are seeing this film for it's sheer enjoyment, you will enjoy it!
Grade: A-
Parents Guide: The PG-13 rating is for extreme violence. This film
is much more frightening and tension filled than the original. Parents
should
screen this film before allowing younger children who frighten easily see
it.
The dinosaurs wreak more havoc than in the original and that does
include the
fact that they eat more people. Personally, I would be very careful which
younger
children see this film.
