What's It About?
Jay (Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith) are back in another adventure from the mind of Kevin Smith. It seems that Hollywood has gotten its hands on the rights to the Bluntman and Chronic series (that Jay and Silent Bob were the inspiration for) and is preparing a major motion picture. After a little research on who is putting the film out it is learned that Miramax is doing the film, which can mean the stars must be none other than Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Jay and Silent Bob then set off to Hollywood to get their piece of the action.
Along the way to Hollywood, Jay and Silent Bob run into a number of characters including a hitchhiker (Carlin), a band of animal rights activists (Elizabeth and crew), a nun (Carrie Fisher), a wildlife Marshall (Will Ferrell) and so many more individuals. The trip to Hollywood is filled with bumps and bruises but Jay and Silent Bob are determined to get paid. And to stop those internet guys from talking about them.
Once arriving in Hollywood it's time to find the movie, avoid all the fake things, and get paid. They will stop at nothing to find the set of Bluntman and Chronic, and they will fight all comers to get paid. Will they find the movie? Will they get paid? Why is his name Silent Bob? The answer to all of these questions can be found in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
Common Guy's Thoughts
Kevin Smith is an acquired taste. There are many individuals that can't get by some of the things in his films. I am NOT one of them. Kevin Smith makes me laugh, irregardless of some of the irreverent things that go on in his films. For instance, within the first 3 minutes of the film there are more "F bombs" dropped than in virtually all of the Hollywood films that come out in a year. But the song that Jason Mewes (Jay) is singing is downright hysterical.
Smith brings back many of his signature cast members from a number of his earlier films. Stars and plot lines from Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma and Chasing Amy keep coming up throughout the film and I would recommend that you see some of the earlier Kevin Smith films first. The cast does a great job with Smith's story of the two "stoner" buds that hang out together. Smith does more with facial expressions in this film than many actors can with a full body of lines. Will Ferrell, Seann William Scott, George Carlin and Chris Rock all deliver some very cleverly devised lines as well.
I know that Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is not a very deep film. It will never win any of the major awards. It won't be a critically acclaimed cinematic masterpiece. It WILL make you laugh, and more times than most comedies can even hold a candle to. I enjoyed Jay and Silent Bob. To enjoy it like I did, you will have to let your guard down, not be offended easily, and just relax. When you do all these things, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back will strike you with laughter.

Parents Guide
Rated R for nonstop crude and sexual humor,
pervasive strong language, and drug content. This is not a film for
younger kids. As I mentioned in the review, there is a great deal of
language in this film even in the first 3 minutes. This is a definite
no-brainer for me. Kids under 17 shouldn't see this movie. It is a
very funny movie, but it is adult in its nature and is appropriately rated R.
