What's It About?
Trish (Philips) and Darry (Long) are on their way home for a nice spring break. Trish decided they should take the long way as she doesn't want to face mom, or the questioning that will inevitably come to find out what Trish's boyfriend is up to. But this country road that the pair have chosen to travel holds more for them then they could have ever dreamed of. It holds a secret that comes out every 23rd spring. The questions remain; What is this thing? What does it want;. and will anyone believe these two as they try to help.
Common Guy's Thoughts
Jeepers Creepers is a good old fashioned scary movie like those you saw in the 80s. The plot is very thin, and there is not a lot of actors with any screen time in this film. But what makes a horror film scary, is the ability to make you jump when you are supposed to jump, and Jeepers Creepers does do that.
There are a couple of major problems with the movie. The acting is not that great. It is an admirable effort that is put forward by Philips and Long, but it just doesn't go over that well with me. They are onscreen so much that they do have a lot to do to try and carry the film. The makeup and effects just didn't do it for me either, as I found myself chuckling at a number of the setups that existed in the film.
I also felt the story behind Jeepers Creepers was weak. The film spent way too much time on a number of seemingly endless scenes. We are treated to the brother and sister team for what seems to be an endless ride home on this country road with no action. Oh the two hurl insults back and forth as any loving brother and sister would do, but the scene gets old fast.
All this withstanding, as I said earlier, the film made me jump at the right times. It is because of that factor that the film was able to just eek out the grade it got from me. Oh there will be many folks that will look at a lot of aspects of this film and immediately discount it, but it really isn't that bad. As the song goes...Jeepers Creepers...where'd you get those peepers. Just don't peep too long or hard and you might enjoy this film..

Parents Guide
Rated R for terror violence/gore, language and
brief nudity. Jeepers Creepers is a gross film from a number of angles.
The violence/gore level of things is very high, especially given the main
monster's way of attacking individuals. Language is no different from any
other horror films. There is nudity as we visit the cave of the creature.
Overall older teens that don't have a week stomach will be able to handle this
one. The question is, will they want to.
