What's It About?
Corky Romano (Kattan) is your everyday, loving veteranarian. There is one problem, however, he is also a memeber of the infamous Romano family (even if only by name alone). But now Pops (Falk) is in trouble, and only one member of the Romano family is not known to the FBI and is able to go undercover. Corky is summoned to meet with Pops and gets the request to go undercover within the FBI. Will Corky take the challenge and try to find the FBI's evidence against Pops or will he go back to his snakes, dogs and gerbils. And maybe a better question might be if he takes the job, how is the lovable goof Corky going to get such classified information and make it back to the family.
Common Guy's Thoughts
I will admit the following, I didn't expect anything out of Corky Romano. Let's face it the last couple Saturday Night Live spinoff films were less than blockbuster material. But I've always vowed to look at each film on its own merit, and Corky Romano was no exception.
Corky Romano features a sometimes very funny Chris Kattan who goes through the gyrations from talking into his pants to getting beat up by his brothers, and so much more. Kattan embodies the Corky character with great ease as he is used to being the lovable goof. In Corky, Kattan is surrounded by a fun cast that includes Peter Falk (Pops), Peter Berg, Chris Penn, Richard Roundtree and so many more. This talented group of people working with Kattan provide a nice framework for this comedy.
The middle of the film hits a bit of a lull and we are brought back down to earth a bit. The film tries to get too serious for a period of time during this middle stretch and it derails any momentum that the film may have brought to the table in the first half. This is definitely a stupid humor film. You may as a viewer think this film is incredibly stupid, and I can see that. I do have to admit I laughed more at the film than I ever expected to. This character has potential in films. It didn't at all feel like a film that was better off being a 10 minute TV setting.
Overall, if you pay $8+ bucks to see Corky, you will probably be feeling a bit "jipped" by the end of the film. However, a night of mindless fun curled up on your couch may be just what this vet ordered to get you back up on your feet. Need a hug, see Corkey, he'll deliver the hug, but may not deliver all of the laughs that you were expecting to get.

Parents Guide
Rated PG-13 for language, drug and sex-related
humor.
Yes, this film can get crude from time to
time with a number of doses of sexual innuendo and the like, however it does
keep it's subject matter pretty much above board and doesn't get too much worse
that a normal episode of Saturday Night Live. I would think that parents
would want to prescreen for the innuendo to see if it ever crosses their own
mental line.
