Welcome to my home page. If you are viewing my page, then you have mastered the art of surfing the web. I've been on the "net" now for seven years and everyday I find new and interesting places to check out. I have been a police officer for 31 years, recently having retired to enjoy the sweet things in life. :)
During my time surfing the net,
I have found many resources to enhance my professional knowledge . I have
included, on my home page, links to sources in the field of law and law enforcement, as well as
some links to software share ware programs to make your surfing adventure
easier and a few links to some other interesting places to visit.
My home page is located on the at www.ticon.net/~lt.
Although surfing the net doesn't occupy all of my free time, I have spent enough time here, to want to share some interesting sites with you. Help your self to a doughnut, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy :) Happy Surfing!!....Dave.

Here is something every investigator needs, to locate people and ISP's (Internet Service Providers) on the net. A good DNS (Domain Name System) look up server with many other resources including Inter:NIC:WHOIS. How does this all work? Lets say your investigating a fraud credit card case on the net and all you know is the suspect is at IP (Internet Protocol) address 156.46.214.189 an IP address is a string of four numbers separated by periods (such as 156.46.214.189) used to represent a computer on the Internet. The format of the address is specified by the Internet Protocol in RFC 791. When a PC accesses the Internet through an ISP, it sometimes receives a temporary IP address. You would take that address number to the DNS site [Use Reverse look up link below] Enter the IP Address. It will resolve the address to a name, like anywhere.com. Then you enter anywhere.com to the Inter:NIC:WHOIS enrtry dialog box just below this paragraph to get the location and responsible parties for the server. You then contact them and ask them what account was assigned that particular IP address on the date and time in question, you might need a court order or subpoena. There, now go forth and investigate :)
